Are there any Jewish wedding dress/attire traditions?

One of my girlfriends is having a Jewish wedding and she asked me to make a her a cloak to wear over her dress for the evening. I wanted to know if there were any Jewish traditions (like adding a trinket or something to the inside of the cloak) of some kind that I could incorporate into the design. It doesn't have to be anything big, just something special for her.

I don’t know of any traditions specific to Jewish wedding attire. If the wedding is in fact traditional, the guy will wear a tallis (prayer shawl), and possibly a kittel (a white robe symbolizing purity – also worn on Yom Kippur). A wedding dress, according to Jewish tradition, ought to be modest, like any clothing a Jewish woman (or man) wears. The only specific custom I know of regarding the wedding dress is that the bride wears a veil, but that it’s the groom who puts the veil on the bride. (To understand the reason behind this practice, check your Bible – specifically, the story of Jacob, Rachel, and Leah.)
Sorry I can’t come up with something more specific for you. You can always ask a Chabad Rabbi or Rebbetzin (Rabbi’s wife) live, online, at http://www.askmoses.com – I think they’d probably be your best bet for a question like this.
